Wish I Had Me Back Then

See that girl? She did everything right in high school. Honors classes. Honor Society. Honor roll. Sports. Clubs. Graduated Magna Cum Laude. Early admission to the two big Texas universities (she chose THE original university of Texas, Texas A&M…and eventually earned her master's degree from the University of Texas).
That girl? She had her bags packed before graduation and was more than ready to head off to college. She knew exactly where she was going—on paper, at least. But beyond the campus name, she had no real sense of what she was moving toward. She just knew she was leaving home.
She wasn’t truly ready for college. She was expected to succeed, but no one asked who she was, who she wanted to be, or how she imagined her future. She only knew she was supposed to go to college because that’s what people did.
Despite having a strong academic background, strong friendships, and lots of determination, that girl STRUGGLED, and she struggled in silence, because in addition to being determined, she was also quite stubborn, and did not want to admit she needed help (still doesn’t!).
She never learned how to study—she’d never had to. And even surrounded by 40,000 students, she felt alone but kept it to herself. One brutal semester nearly ended her college career. A few hard talks with her parents and a major switch later, she made it through. Her GPA? Strong enough to land her in a highly selective grad program—almost two decades down the road.
Still, if she had a coach and a supportive cohort during her college transition, she might have soared even higher than she imagined.
It took years of detours, restarts, and reflection for her to find her way — but she did. And now, she's using everything she’s learned to help others do the same, with more support and less struggle.
Fast forward 37 years later (YIKES!), and that girl is now super clear on her values, where she’s going, and how she wants to move forward. She has coached people in various contexts and arenas — from swimming pools to classrooms to the pitch — and most recently, she has started her own solutions-based coaching business focused on personal and professional development.

A coach can help clients reimagine challenges, discover solutions, and flow forward. That’s exactly what that girl aims to do in her Flow Forward: Coaching & Connection Series for first-time college students.
Here’s what that support can look like — and how the Flow Forward series is designed to guide students as they shape their next steps with greater confidence and clarity.
Reimagine Challenges
We’ll begin with an intake session to identify both long-term and short-term goals, explore potential roadblocks, and clarify the core values that will support their college experience and personal growth. Together, we’ll learn how to view obstacles as opportunities for insight and development.
Discover Solutions
In follow-up sessions, we’ll explore what’s working, what’s not working, and identify meaningful steps to keep moving forward. Using neuroscience-informed questions and deep listening, I help create a space where students can uncover solutions that feel right for them and align with their values and goals.
Flow Forward
As students move toward meaningful goals, they’ll also build lasting skills — becoming more adaptive and confident problem solvers. These tools aren’t just for college; they’re life tools, ready to carry forward on whatever path they choose next.❤️
